Texas A&M University Partners with the Plant Management Network St. Paul, Minn. (June 16, 2005) - The Plant Management Network (PMN), an innovative website designed for plant and agricultural professionals, is pleased to welcome Texas A&M University as a new university partner. "The growing 'green industry' in Texas has a great need for the information available via PMN," said Dennis Gross, professor and head of the Department of Plant Pathology & Microbiology at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX. "In the rapidly advancing agricultural industry, the ability to quickly access information is essential. PMN provides this access and offers electronic means of publication that are essential to modern extension programs," Gross said. Texas A&M University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (COALS) has 14 departments and 26 undergraduate major fields of study. Master's and doctoral degrees are offered in each of the departments. With one of the largest enrollments of any college of agriculture in the nation, COALS also offers programs in entomology, rangeland ecology, horticulture, plant pathology, bioenvironmental sciences, biotechnology, floriculture, poultry science, forestry and agricultural journalism. Other PMN partners include: Syngenta Crop Protection, Pioneer Hi-Bred, Valent BioSciences Corporation, PBI/Gordon Corporation, Campbell Scientific, The American Phytopathological Society, American Society of Agronomy, American Society for Horticultural Science, Canadian Phytopathological Society, Canadian Society of Agronomy, CAST, Crop Adviser Institute, CropLife America, Crop Science Society of America, Entomological Society of America, National Alliance of Independent Crop Consultants, NCSRP Plant Health Initiative, Potash & Phosphate Institute, and the Weed Science Society of America. PMN's partners also include a growing list of more than 20 U.S. state land-grant university colleges of agriculture. PMN publishes four science-based applied journals -- Applied Turfgrass Science, Crop Management, Plant Health Progress, and Forage and Grazinglands -- and includes an image database, three field trials publications, a plant science database of more than 4,000 fact sheets and other web-based resources, and a monthly newsletter.
